SETUP GUIDE

Getting started with myCogni Chat

In about 15 minutes your chat assistant is answering customers.

⏱ About 15 minutes

What you need

1

Install

  1. Download mycogni-chat.zip from your purchase email or from My Account → Downloads.
  2. In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin → choose the zip → Install Now → Activate.
  3. myCogni Chat now appears in the left-hand admin menu.

The admin and chat widget are in English. If your WordPress site language is Greek (Settings → General → Site Language), the full Greek translation is used automatically.

2

License key

  1. Go to myCogni Chat → License.
  2. Paste your key (format MC-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and click Activate.
  3. From now on, updates arrive in Dashboard → Updates, like any other plugin.

Moving your store to a new domain? In My Account → myCogni Licenses click Remove next to the old site, then activate the key on the new one.

3

AI key (your own — you pay the provider directly)

myCogni Chat works with OpenAI, Google Gemini, Mistral AI or OpenRouter. We suggest OpenAI to start.

  1. Create an account at platform.openai.com, add some credit (e.g. $10) and create an API key.
    – Set a monthly spending limit so you always know your maximum cost.
  2. myCogni Chat → Settings → OpenAI API key → paste → Test API key → Save.

What does it cost? It depends on how many conversations you have and the model you pick. You pay the provider at their own rates — there are no per-conversation fees from us.

4

Train it on your store

  1. myCogni Chat → Data Training.
  2. Under Select content for training, keep Products and Pages ticked. Add PDFs if you have them, e.g. a catalog or user manuals.
  3. Click Start training and wait for “Training completed”.
  4. New or edited products are trained automatically.
5

Store settings

In myCogni Chat → Store settings, switch on what you want the assistant to do:

  • Order lookup. The customer gives their order number and email or phone.
  • Stock check.
  • Cash-on-delivery orders in the chat. The customer confirms via a link. Stock is reserved only when you approve the order.
  • Single-use coupons. Set a percentage and limits.
  • Contact form. Used when a human needs to step in.
6

Online payment links

NEW IN 2.0

Let the assistant create the order and send the visitor a link to pay with your store’s own payment methods (Stripe, PayPal, Viva, cards, Apple Pay… whatever your checkout already offers).

  1. Make sure at least one online payment gateway is active in WooCommerce → Settings → Payments.
  2. Go to [myCogni Chat → Store settings → Online payment] and switch on [Enable payment links in chat].
  3. Choose the link type:
    – [Pay for order page] — the order is created as Pending payment and the customer pays on WooCommerce’s “pay for order” page.
    – [Pre-filled checkout] — the customer lands on your normal checkout with the cart already filled.
  4. Optional: set [Link expiry] and keep cash on delivery available alongside it if you want.
  5. Test: open the store in a private window, ask the assistant to buy a product, and complete the payment with your gateway in test/sandbox mode.

myCogni Chat never handles card details — payment always happens on your own checkout through your gateway.

7

Threshold coupons

NEW IN 2.0

Reward bigger baskets automatically: e.g. “from 3 items or from €60 → single-use 10% off”.

  1. Go to [myCogni Chat → Store settings → Threshold coupons] and click [Add rule].
  2. Set the condition: [Minimum items] and/or [Minimum basket value].
  3. Set the reward: [Discount %] (each code is generated per customer and works once).
  4. Optional: switch on [Nudge when close to threshold] so the assistant says e.g. “Add one more item and get 10% off.”
  5. Save. The coupon is applied automatically in the payment or checkout link once the basket qualifies.

Tip: check that the rule doesn’t stack with other active promotions in a way you didn’t intend (Marketing → Coupons).

8

Show it on your site

myCogni Chat → Settings → Enable floating chat widget. Pick a color, position and welcome message. Open your store in a private window and ask a question.

The assistant automatically replies in the visitor’s language — test it by writing in English, then in another language.

9

Before going live

  • Add the paragraph from the GDPR guide for stores to your Privacy Policy.
  • Check the AI disclosure text shown to visitors (EU AI Act transparency) under [myCogni Chat → Settings → AI disclosure] and adjust the wording if needed.
  • Try 5–10 typical customer questions and add approved answers where you want exact wording (myCogni Chat → Import answers).
  • If you enabled payment links, place one real low-value order end to end, then refund it.
  • Review the first conversations in Live Chat and on the Dashboard.

Menu and setting names in `[brackets]` are placeholders until the final admin labels are confirmed.
